Bluebell Walk & Ride Sunday 6th May 2012 The Bluebell Walk and Ride at Rutland Water has once again come and gone. It all flew by in a kind of blur. The weather leading up to the day had been awful, in fact some of the worst for this time of year but somehow our prayers had been answered; we didn’t get rained on! We were worried that the recent weather would put people off but with the sun shining and the rain clouds kept at a distant we had a massive turn out. The majority of participants had pre-registered but due to our more central position, compared to last year, we had some passing trade. Quite a few family groups saw the colourful banners and friendly faces and came over to see what the fuss was all about. They asked if they could donate and join in. So of course we let them. We are still adding up the number of attendees and the money raised, but initial figures show around 300 people took part and an amazing amount of money. I wouldn’t even like to speculate, so please keep checking back here to find out the exact amount. We had some fabulous teddy bears, all dressed up by their owners. Well done to everyone who came in fancy dress, you put a smile on everybodies face! We will also be adding photos as soon as we get them form the photographers. I would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who took part. You have done something incredible today. Thank you. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who offered their time today. Without you we couldn’t have made such a great day. Teddy Bears If you have any teddy bears that you no longer want then please send them our way. We will be attending a soft toy tombola in August and will need as many stuffed toys as we can possibly find. They need to be in good condition and have the tag still attached for fire safety reasons. If you find any unwanted soft toys, then please bring them along to our next members meeting or give us a call/email and we will organise a convient way of exchanging. Thanks |
