In a year when sport has such a high profile as a result of 2012 Olympics we want to encourage our members to be active and we are running a survey to explore the sport and fitness habits of people with IBD. We are also fortunate to be supported by our Champions. Crohn's and Colitis UK Champions The Olympic Rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave, Footballer Russell Martin and actress/dancer Della Thielamay are all supporting us as our Champions. First, the business bit, this is our proud history and will bring you uptodate:
The Merseyside Group was the first to be started by Crohn's and Colitis UK, formally known as NACC, in 1982 and has made substantial progress in the past three decades in terms of support and assistance for people with crohn's and colitis and developing strong working partnerships with hospitals in the Merseyside region.
2012 presents new opportunities and a refreshed group has started covering the area in January kicking off a new year with a new outlook. There are currently 9 of us in a new organising team looking for you to join us in informal and friendly events to simply share experiences, raise questions, discuss concerns or even just be a friendly face and come and chill out with us. (See about us page)
Hope you all enjoyed reading our first newsletter? Are you on our mailing list? If not email us and future Newsletters and updates will be sent to you electronically. We're also reigniting our links with local hospitals so we can campaign for crohn's and colitis patients and use the invaluable medical advice and support available to us.
Don't forget to nominate your local public toilet for 'Merseyside Crohn's & Colitis (IBD) Toilet of the Year 2012' Send us your pictures!!!! The winner will be presented with a plaque, all finalist details will be on the website!!!!
