Generous Donations

On behalf of the group the Treasurer would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who have contributed to our funds so far this year. Those contributions total £1244.27 and they all help enormously in furthering the work of the group in improving the lives of those affected by Colitis and Crohn’s Disease. The total is made up as follows:-

Mrs K.Wallis of Shearsby - £396.20 donated in lieu of flowers at the funeral of her late husband. We extend our thanks and our condolences.

Kim Palmer of Wigston - £264.55 raised at a Skittles Night at the Star and Garter.

Heather Burton of Barrow - £200 raised at a Coffee Morning.

Total Garage, Leicester Road, Melton Mowbray - £101.82 raised in collecting tins.

The Royal Standard, Charles Street, Leicester - £59.62 raised in collecting tins.

Mr and Mrs Coplin of Leicester - £59.00 raised at a Chocaholics’ Party.

Cynthia Pywel of Thurnby - £55.85 raised in lieu of birthday presents.

The Grapes, Market Place, Melton Mowbray - £35.00 raised at a Paranormal Evening.

An important date change has occurred. The AGM will no longer be Feb 25^th as stated in the most recent Newsletter. It will now be held on March 17^th 2012.

20^th Anniversary Celebrations – Sat 3^rd Dec 2011

We were joined by Dr Barrie Rathbone (Consultant Gastroenterologist) and Charlotte Thompson (IBD Specialist nurse), as well as a good turnout of local group members.

We all joined together to celebrate 20 years of the Leicestershire and Rutland, Crohn’s and Colitis UK group. There was a table full of party food and a birthday cake for everyone to enjoy.

Over the past few months we have been collecting questions from our membership. These questions were for our IBD specialists to answer on your behalf. They were answered very well and in some detail.

There was a wonderful atmosphere and even some new faces to welcome to the meeting. We hope to see you at the next meeting. It’s nice to know, we are not alone in this IBD world.

The prize draw was drawn by Charlotte and if you won a prize you will be contacted shortly (Names and Prizes posted below). We also held a raffle which saw one lucky member walk away with a huge Christmas hamper.

Look out for more details of the weekend’s events in our next newsletter, due out in the early part of the New Year.
