Members meeting - new venue

The next Clyde Group members meeting (11th February 2012) will be held in the Renfield Centre, 260 Bath Street (diagonally opposite the Kings Theatre) in the Garnethill Room.

We look forward to seeing you there! Non-members are welcome to come along too to find out more about us and join in!

For the attention of all our members

Our last four meetings have been attended by, respectively, 15, 7, 28 and 17 members, out of a membership of 692. The cost to the group for these meetings has been £576.00. Most members who attend the meetings find them helpful and feel they benefit from listening to the speakers and from interaction with fellow-sufferers. We urge all members who are able to attend to join us.

We understand that some members might not be capable of attending but if you don't come to the meetings, we would appreciate if you could tell us why and if there is anything we could do to make you attend more often (i.e. speakers on topics that interest you, different format of meetings, different location, etc).

Please email us your comments or suggestions at clyde@groups.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk.

Channel 4's Food Hospital

The Food Hospital, a programme which is on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 8pm, has Crohn's as one of its conditions next week. The programme looks at the way food affects our health and if it can be used as an addition or even replacement for traditional drugs.

Tuesday 15th November Episode:
The consultants explain how a change of diet could help a 19-year-old dancer deal with Crohn's disease, and boost the fertility of a man desperate to become a father. They also help a teenager redefine her relationship with food following gastric bypass surgery, Pixie McKenna examines the effectiveness of energy drinks, and a nationwide survey contributes to research into a natural remedy for insomnia.

From the Channel 4's website:
"In a pioneering new eight-part specialist factual series, Channel 4 examines the science behind using food as medicine. In experiments conducted with strict scientific rigour, patients suffering from a range of medical conditions and symptoms are invited to attend The Food Hospital where they are prescribed specific food treatment programmes to find out if their health problems can be alleviated or cured by the food they eat."
